Sktyap To Offer Hybrid Computing Services To Customers

Skytap, a cloud computing firm based out of Seattle, Washington has recently developed a program that will allow their customers more flexibility and autonomy in using the company’s infrastructure.
Called the Skytap Hybrid Cloud, this revolutionary product allows users to interface their own data with Skytap’s data management infrastructure.
In addition, users also have the freedom to allow these new connections to access other sub-networks as they wish. Buyers can also design the degree of access for authorized users.
Also with Hybrid Cloud, administrators will be given a chance to create virtual multiple data centers that uses different types of architecture. To search for components in Skytap’s infrastructure, users just type in a search box the computer specifications or program types that they are looking for.
For example, you can have one of your virtual data centers run on Linux-based computers with a specific memory capacity and processing speed. On the other hand you can also choose to use a specific program, say Oracle 11g, to run your other offsite data systems.
Previously, Skytap offered customers their infrastructure but with restricted autonomy. Now, customers have the power to use the company’s own data management systems and treat it as their own. Right now the company has a total of 125 customers, which was up from 100 in the past quarter. Customers can choose to pay only for the hours that they use the company’s servers or services.
Fees are also based on the number and size of data management equipment that a client uses.
It is truly inspiring to know of a company the size of Skytap thriving in the competitive cloud computing business. However, what I think would be crucial to its long-term success will be their ability to innovate. The computing industry, in particular the Web-based management solutions business, is a dynamic and democratic field that welcomes all, regardless of background and stature.
One great thing about it is that it is possible for a small company like Skytap to make it big and become successful without spending a lot of money.
The important thing to succeed in this business is to have an undying dedication to come up with fresh ideas, which fortunately don’t necessarily require a large cash outlay. In the end, the winners in this business will be those that come up with the newest and coolest ideas.
