Cloud Computing Predicted To Become Mainstream Soon
IDC, a recognized analyst firm, is predicting that cloud computing will become mainstream in just a few years time. This prediction is based on their collected data of buying trends and computing patterns. IDC is forecasting that during 2011, cloud computing services will outpace other IT products and offerings by up to five times.
They also believe that these changes in the IT landscape will compel many companies to adapt to this new technology and modify their practices in order to adapt and survive in the cutthroat environment of today’s computer industry. Enterprises are going to have to quickly find ways to work around cloud computing platforms and integrate these revolutionary systems to their existing infrastructure.
As more and more people are becoming aware of the benefits that they can gain from adopting cloud computing, demand for these services is sure to significantly ramp up. Multiple companies are now seeing the huge advantages of using a platform that can work across multiple operating systems, reducing the complexity involved with computers to a level that can accelerate business processes and activities.
Figures gathered from current markets are giving cloud computing vendors more reason to smile than ever, and this has seen them become even more aggressive. As it stands now, 70% of all software management systems purchased are cloud-computing-centric. Even if North America takes up a big chunk of that statistic (63.1%), other regions, such Asia-Pacific and Europe are expected to follow suit very soon.
And with more technological developments in the pipeline, cloud computing vendors are set to pounce on this opportunity by releasing more advanced products and by upgrading their current suites.
One of the biggest advantages of cloud computing, and also one that is not often spoken of, is that vendors and customers engage in a much more sustained business relationship through this platform, which translates to a steadier stream of revenue for the former, and better support for the latter.
However, cloud computing is not getting too much attention from the media and industry leaders yet, as these groups often see the prospects of cloud computing as yet unclear and undefined, and the general consensus is that the perceived potentials of it seem too far ahead of the loop to get excited about now. However, proponents of cloud computing like to think otherwise, with many predicting that cloud computing is going to become mainstream much sooner than many observers forecast.
For this kind of system management product to really take, off some urgent issues need to be resolved first, primary the area of security. One reason why many companies are still reluctant to embrace this kind of technology is because they see many loopholes when it comes to user access.
Files cannot be completely protected from theft or unauthorized views/downloads, which could severely endanger a business’s operations. Steps need to be made to address these issues definitively, which would then surely mark a significant shift in the long term viability of cloud computing.
